READING — Three classes for parents-to-be are slated this month at St. Joseph Medical Center's Breidegam Family Birthing Center.
"Preparation for Breastfeeding: What You Need to Know" will offer evidence-based information, practical tips for new families and the debunking of myths. Fathers and grandmothers may also attend the session set from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Cost will be $12 per couple.
"Family-Centered Maternity Care" will be the theme of a class set at 7 p.m. on Thursday. This session is free.
Also free is a class on the topic "The Truth about Postpartem Depression," slated for 7 p.m. on Nov. 20.

MALVERN — The National Alliance on Mental Illness, Chester County chapter, will host an open meeting and discussion on housing issues at 7 p.m. on Nov. 20 at Christ Memorial Church, Paoli Pike.
"The County Mental Health Plan and How to Access It" will be the theme of the roundtable.

POTTSTOWN — The November issue of Mission Good Nutrition, a TV program sponsored by the Pottstown Area Health and Wellness Foundation, features healthy eating information for pregnant women. Ways to avoid food cravings are included.
Cheryl Herold, a registered dietitian, discusses the myth of "eating for two." She also outlines foods that should be avoided during pregnancy and other foods that are important to healthy baby development.
Jo-An Rechtin, wellness coordinator for the Owen J. Roberts School District, will discuss cravings, what triggers them and how they can be avoided.
In the show's final segment, Jessica Reilley of Cozy Cuisines will prepare to dishes nutritionally appropriate for pregnant women.

CONSHOHOCKEN — The American Heart/American Stroke Association is seeking volunteers to become "voices of power" through it stroke prevention program.
Volunteers will assist in carrying a prevention message and educating those at highest risk on ways to reduce or eliminate factors that could lead to a stroke.
