Pa. Motorcycle Safety Program offering free safety classes
The Pennsylvania Motorcycle Safety Program (PAMSP) is offering free motorcycle safety classes for Pennsylvania residents in the area. Class schedules and information about the courses are available online at www.pamsp.com. Students who successfully complete the knowledge and the skills test through the PAMSP will receive a motorcycle license from PennDOT.
PAMSP has been training motorcyclists since 1984. Last year over 26,000 students were trained through the program.
A motorcycle permit is needed in order to register for a class. Participants will need to go to a PennDOT Driver License Center and obtain a motorcycle learner's permit before registering for a class.
The Basic Rider Course is designed for novice riders who want to learn basic skills to operate a motorcycle safely. Motorcycles and helmets are provided. The Experienced Rider Course is available for experienced riders who want to improve their skills and increase safety. Students use their own motorcycles. Successful students can obtain their motorcycle license through either of the two programs offered.
